Some new hotness for some old hotness

Postby druidsdecendant » Sun Jul 04, 2010 7:03 pm

Well, last week I picked up this:

The original owner lost the figure "8" that holds the clamshells together in the front and cut it off -.-...I'll get another one and mill it down for the new one.

This week, this arrived from knifekits.com.

Included is one 12"x24"x0.08" piece of MARPAT Kydex, two belt clips and diamond cutting wheel discs for a Dremel:

How it matches the marker:

Today I made this:

Rough cut the Kydex

Heat forming. The best part is that if you do it right, you don't need any kind of retention strap. The Splatmaster actually 'snaps' into place:

Rivets [I will be painting the rivets black]

Belt clip installed. Picture #2 shows the locking mechanism and in $3 the adjustment bar for belt widths. The "U" looking piece is the lock that keeps you from unknowingly opening the clip.

This is the "large" clip. It's adjustable for up to 2.25" web belts. It also has a locking mechanism so that it can remain in place if that's the users' desire.

With the clip installed, I offset it so the screw heads wouldn't dig into the plastic Splatty:

Business end. The top tube in this marker is where the 10rd tubes go. The bottom tube is the barrel. I made the holster in such a way that the muzzle is blocked but the feed tube is not:

What do you think?

Just finished - Black .080" Kydex holster for the 68 Magnum. I'll not be painting the brass rivets because they match the marker very well. This one was a bit of a pain. As those of you who know old PMIs, the gas line on the passenger side presents a problem for a holster. The pump handle was no peach either.
Also, I mounted an UMB and gas line so I could use my gas-through stock in a manner in which it doesn't bang into my mask. Overall she came out nice and I'm happy with the results.

Sorry about the crappy pics...it's too damned hot outside to get nice ones cs:
